awesome

So I got financial aid! I'm staying at Columbia/JTS. This feels really anticlimactic. Maybe it'll feel less anticlimactic after a party!

In other news, people at JTS, people my age/a few years older are getting engaged. I can't even fathom that kind of commitment. Does that make me commitment-phobic? Er, I don't think so.

Also, I just started watching How I Met Your Mother. Very interesting timing.

Limbo

I'm spending the weekend working on my ArtHum paper, even though the weather is fantastic. (Though I heard it's going to get icky this week.) I'm making progress in planning my trip, mostly with money-related things. I requested a credit increase for my credit card. I've had it since my senior year of high shcool, and the limit is only $700. That's not nearly enough, especially since I'm going to need to purchase plane tickets and pay rent. I actually have all of the money I'm going to be spending (dipping into savings...blech), so it's not an issue of paying things back. I also need to stop by my friendly Bank of America to set up the money transfer so that I can pay rent. I feel so responsible.

Planning the nitty gritty trip details is starting to get me pumped for the trip. This is good, because I sure as hell can use a distraction from the whole transferring thing. Case in point: Last night, I dreamed that ISU (Illinois State University) was giving me $100,000 in financial aid (which is waaay more than their tuition even costs), so I had to transfer to there. This is weird because I didn't apply there.

I feel like I'm getting into this ArtHum paper, but I'm not so sure. I'm still in the research phase, even though it's due on Monday. But it only needs to be 6 pages, so that's okay, I guess.

It's true

I'm only posting here because I am seriously bored and don't feel like being productive. Also because this blog needs more posts. I think this means I'm multitasking.

Sweet.

Progress?

I'm finally writing in this thing. Like numerous globetrotters, I want to record my travels--in this case, this upcoming summer, which I will be spending in Jerusalem!

This trip is coming at an interesting time. In March, I found out that I need some serious help from the good people in JTS Financial Aid to be able to stay at JTS/Columbia. All of the paperwork has been filed, now I'm just waiting. In the meantime, I applied and auditioned for the University of Illinois' music school and marching band. The French horn teacher accepted me into his studio, which means I'm unofficially accepted into the music school. (I'd be pursuing a Bachelor's of Music in ethnomusicology, with a strong performance component on French horn.) I haven't heard back from the Marching Illini, but I think the audition went well.

I'd actually be okay with transferring. I mean, I wouldn't want to leave behing everyone and everything that is in NYC, but when I went to visit the campus, I really liked U of I. Also, as much as it pains me to say, the Joint Program can be a real pain sometimes. It's just not an easy program to manage. If I stay, I need to take 7 (real) classes next semester. It's just a whole lot of work. Like seriously, woah. Also, I might be 1-2 semesters behind, which means summer school classes at some point. However, I have decided that regardless of what happens, I am going to go through with this internship, because it's an awesome opportunity. So yeah.

ANYWAYS, I will be spending the month of June in a conversational Hebrew class, and the month of July and half of the month of August in an (unpaid) internship at the Jerusalem Post. Only now am I getting down to the nitty gritty. I applied to Pardes (the school where I'll hopefully actually learn some Hebrew), and am in the process of looking for an apartment room to rent for the summer. I'm also looking at airlines. I think I found an awesome deal through Air Canada, I just need to call them and find out about traveler's insurance.

In other news, I fly back home in a month, I am probably ridiculously behind on all of my work, I have an art history paper due Monday that I haven't started working on, and...yeah.

But I'm making progress.
